What is futures trading?
Futures trading allows investors to speculate on the future price of an asset, such as equity, a commodity, a currency, an interest payment or even a bond. In the futures world, the outcome is based on expiration dates - the last day of trading activities for a particular contract. After that, trading is halted and the contracts are settled, resulting in either profit or loss for the trader. Notably, futures trading can be done with leveraged positions, meaning that traders only need a percentage of the total contract value, and the rest is leveraged or borrowed from the platform.
How futures trading differs from spot trading?
The futures market has contracts paid for at a future date, whereas spot traders make instant trades with almost immediate delivery and exit the positions at any moment later on.
